How many students are in each class?
Classes have eight - ten students MAX.
How long will it take me to learn to speak French?
You can expect to be conversant in French after completing four terms of 10 weeks each (or the equivalent intensive courses) when you begin at level A1.
I'm preparing for the TCF / Delf / Dalf exams, which course should I attend?
We have created courses that will help you prepare for these exams. You will find a list of these courses on this page. Alternatively, depending on what your learning goal is, you can also attend any of the other courses (General French, Short Courses, Business French) available here at the Institute.
How do I know my level?
All classes are streamed. We therefore recommend students to sit a placement test with us at least two weeks before the course commencement date. This is to make sure you join a group with a similar level to yours. You can sit a placement test with us Monday to Friday 10.30 to 6.30pm.
Alternatively you can visit our self-assessment page. There you can download a placement test complete it and return it to us by email (scanned) or by post. You can also try our only assessments. If you already know what your level is then there is no need to do a placement test.
I have never done French before (complete beginner level) do I need to sit a placement test?
No
Will I receive a certificate after completing a class?
All students will receive a certificate of completion, provided that no sessions were missed. You may also take a proficiency exam (DELF/DALF or TCF) certified by the French Ministère de l'Education.
NEW !! What if I miss a class?
We store catch-up lessons and handouts in a secure online database. All students will receive instructions on start date on how to access notes and handouts in the event they would miss a class. We are proud to say that we are the only French language centre in Ireland to provide this FREE extra facility.
Can I register after the start of term?
You may still register for a course during the first 2 weeks of any 10 week course. You will however have to pay the full tuition amount.
Do I have to buy a book?
All our classes are structured and planned. We provide all our students with comprehensive and updated notes. It is therefore not necessary to purchase a book for your lessons.
