At Cork Institute of French we strictly follow the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate Curriculum. All our German grinds lessons are planned and organised to ensure that classes are run smoothly and efficiently. All students will receive excellent, comprehensive and up-to-date handouts
The following will be covered each week:
1. Written Practice
We will help students brush up on grammar and structure and perfect student’s answering technique for the written task.
2. Aural
We will show students how to improve answering technique through listening practice in exam conditions.
3. Reading Comprehension
This area of the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert exam can be tricky and one of the ways students can improve it is by reading as much German as possible. Each week literary and journalistic comprehensions will be studied and explained thoroughly.
4. Oral (5th year and LC students only)
Our course covers all four sections examined in the Oral exam:
Pronunciation
Vocabulary
Grammatical structures
Communication
This part of the course is taught by native German teachers to ensure that pronunciation and communication skills are perfected in every possible way. We will help students build up vocabulary relevant to the most frequently asked topics in the exam; to target common grammar mistakes by guiding students through verbs and tenses; and above all to help students build up confidence through intensive oral practice.

These are organised throughout the academic year and we encourage all students to sit these.
● Online access to notes and handout (GP,IP,EP)
All lesson notes, workbooks and assessments are stored in a secured online database. Students have access to it in the event they miss a class.
● Revision sessions organised over each school break (GP,IP,EP)
Optional bonus-lessons will be arranged regularly during each term-long course to help students practice key areas important for the exams.
● Extra lessons arranged anytime (day or night) through our online conferencing system (IP,EP)
Our learning management system allows us to organise virtual lessons with students using a virtual whiteboard creating an open source for questions and answers should students need last minute brainstorming before a test. It also allows us to publish lessons and grade assignments. We can guarantee that our system offers a secure and safe virtual study environment for students as it does not interfere share or give access to student's private information.
● Monthly progress reports sent to parents (IP,EP)
These monthly reports give a detailed feedback of students' progress.
● Monthly individual meetings with student to discuss progress & monthly individualised study plans and extra homework. (EP)
Our mission is to get students the points they're aiming for. But again not all students learn at the same pace or have the same difficulties. We will therefore meet students on a monthly basis, to assess their progress and provide them with a personalised and customised study plan.
